After reading it and beating an addiction. There are far better books out there. Miss Harrison means well, But She does not come from a good clear back ground of addiction recovery. Granted She beat her wieght loss problem. The Book looking at it from a LDS stand Point is border line false doctrine.

This book was used but in very good condition and the discription was accurate by the seller. It was in better condition than I expected it to be and it was shipped accurately and in a timely manner. Thanks.

On a personal note, this is a great book for those who are struggling with addiction and it was a great price for those who do not think they can afford it. It is well worth it.

I carry this book with me wherever I go. Once you get into recovery, it becomes a big part of your life. Everyone you know is either in recovery or supporting your own. Most addicts like to carry around a copy of the AA or NA book. It sort-of becomes like a personal journal. Certain words, sentences, and paragraphs in the book are highlighted in a variety of different colors, to emphasize certain information that pertains to that addict’s history and recovery. Overtime, as sobriety time begins to stack up, every page in the book is covered with notes, references, and quotations based on the success of one’s own recovery. This allows for a more intricate relationship between Addict and Recovery. While the NA book contains a plethora of information pertaining to freeing one’s self from addictive behaviors, Colleen Harrison’s book “He Did Deliver Me From Bondage” allows for a more “spiritual approach” to the situation, often quoting the prophets of the Book of Mormon to get a point across. Now I understand that not all addicts are Mormon, or even believe in the Book of Mormon for that matter, but this book isn’t about religion. It’s about spirituality. Regardless of what you may or may not believe concerning the Book of Mormon, it contains some of the greatest information in the world about moral agency and personal freedom. Something that drugs tend to take away. I urge you to read this… when doing so, do not think about where the messages are coming from. Just read them as though they were any other reference to overcoming temptation, and you will soon feel the spirit of peace enter into you. Just as the NA book contains information that addicts feel they can personally relate to, He Did Deliver Me From Bondage contains information that addicts know they can relate to personally… or more specifically who they can relate to personally; in that all their sufferings were felt by the Lord, Jesus Christ, that night in Gethsemane, even on a personal level. They can relate to Him because He can relate to them. He knows each one of us individually, and when he paid for ours sins he did not do it all at once. All the sins of the world weren’t paid for in one single moment. No, the Lord personally suffered for us individually, paying the debt required for each repentant soul. He paid the price, which price varies between each person (depending on the sins and mistakes you made during life), that he might come to know each of us on a personal level. Because he paid the required price for each one of our sins, he knows the pain each one of those sins brought to us. To put things in a computing perspective, he copy and pasted our files (sins) on to his desktop (body), scanned them with an anti-virus program (made them clean), and sent them to the recycle bin (remembered them no more).

Overall, Colleen’s book has allowed me to become close with my Jesus. I’ve had it since the first day of heroin withdrawals and that was almost 9 months ago. I’m only 16 years old, but I know I can overcome the world just as Christ did. The cravings our strong but the Lord makes my burdens light. Truly truly truly, it is like someone lifting the pains from body, mind, and soul in a single moment. And after removing the mental cravings and physical reactions, the body becomes light and filled with his love; which is unlike any other love. Love has a broad spectrum but this… is so perfectly mild, so still, so intensily small, it’s as though it were a whisper that pierces you to the very core. It causes one to marvel at the intensity of such mildness. It’s as though your senses were magnified but not in a way that overwhelms you; rather it turns a loving whisper into the perfect hurricane. Not a dangerous hurricane, but a loving whisper at the level of a swirling hurricane. It is undeniable, and has given me strength even at the darkest times. I urge you again to read this book. It will not change you, for no book in the world will do such a thing. Rather, it will help you learn the skills required to make the choice for yourself. The choice to change. LDS or not, if you are facing addictions of any kind, I wholeheartedly suggest you get a copy of this book today. It is nearly-similar to the NA books, only the steps are more spiritual-friendly. Do what must be done. His love faileth not.

This is the most healing book I have ever read. I re-read it often, lend out copies to friends, and encourage everyone to buy it if I don’t have a spare copy.

It is refreshingly honest, thought provoking, humorous and has truly brought me know my Savior.

This 12-step course is meant for the LDS culture. It is highly effective and we use it in our Stake on a regular basis. The doctrine is sound, the insights inspiring. It is the best Book of Mormon study course I have ever engaged in. It gets five stars despite some quirks in the book, because it accomplishes what it sets out to do, and that is rare anymore.
